Easy Honey Mustard Sausages - The Ultimate Party Food

Easy Honey Mustard Cocktail Sausages – The Ultimate Party Food

If there is one party food that disappears faster than anything else, it's these Honey Mustard Cocktail Sausages. Sweet, sticky, savoury and packed with flavour, they've become a tradition at every family gathering I host.

The first time I made them was for a family get-together, and my uncle loved them so much he asked if I could make them again. Of course I did—and ever since, they have become a permanent fixture at Christmas parties, games nights, buffets and celebrations. They're always the first dish to empty, and I usually wish I'd made a double batch!

Served piping hot with a bowl of cocktail sticks, these sticky honey mustard sausages are the perfect bite-sized canapé. They're incredibly easy to make using frozen cocktail sausages, but they're just as delicious with chipolatas or regular pork sausages cut into bite-sized pieces.

Whether you're planning a festive buffet, Christmas Eve nibbles, New Year's Eve party food or a cosy gathering with friends, this recipe is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Serves

8–10 as party food

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen cocktail pork sausages (approximately 50–60 sausages) or equivalent

  • 4 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp garlic granules

  • Salt and white pepper, to taste

How to Make Sticky Honey Mustard Cocktail Sausages

1. Cook the sausages

Preheat your oven or air fryer to 200°C.

Cook the cocktail sausages for 15–20 minutes, or until they are beautifully golden and cooked through. If using an air fryer, shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning.

2. Make the honey mustard glaze

While the sausages are cooking, add the honey, wholegrain mustard, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic granules and a generous pinch of salt and white pepper to a large non-stick frying pan.

Warm gently over a low heat, stirring until the sauce is smooth and combined.

3. Coat the sausages

Once the sausages are cooked, transfer them straight into the pan with the glaze.

Increase the heat to medium and toss the sausages continuously until every sausage is coated and the honey begins to caramelise into a delicious sticky glaze.

Serve immediately while hot.

No Cocktail Sausages?

Don't worry if you can't find frozen cocktail sausages.

This recipe works perfectly with:

  • 12 regular pork sausages, each cut into 4 bite-sized pieces

  • 20 pork chipolatas, each cut into 3 pieces

  • Your favourite flavoured sausages if you'd like to experiment

Simply cook them as directed before coating them in the sticky honey mustard glaze.

Tips for the Best Honey Mustard Sausages

  • Use good-quality honey for the richest flavour and the best caramelisation.

  • Don't rush the final step. Allow the glaze a few minutes to bubble and cling to the sausages.

  • Serve straight away. They're at their stickiest and most delicious while still warm.

  • Keep them warm in a slow cooker on the lowest setting if you're serving them as part of a buffet.

  • Double the recipe. Trust me—you'll need it!

Variations

Want to change things up? Try one of these delicious twists:

  • Add a pinch of smoked paprika for a subtle smoky flavour.

  • Stir through a splash of Worcestershire sauce for extra savoury depth.

  • Add a pinch of chilli flakes or cayenne pepper for a sweet and spicy version.

  • Sprinkle over fresh thyme before serving for a festive finish.
